Endling brings dark humour to the Russian invasion of Ukraine
Ukrainian-Canadian writer Maria Reva published her first novel, Endling, this summer. The absurdist novel follows a Ukrainian snail scientist who gets involved with two sisters trying to take down the country's marriage industry — all while the Russian invasion of Ukraine begins.
Endling swiftly made the longlist for the Booker Prize, an international award worth over $90,000. Only a handful of Canadians have ever won: Margaret Atwood, Michael Ondaatje and Yann Martel.
Today on Commotion, guest host Ali Hassan speaks with culture critic Carole V. Bell about why she loves Endling.
